Iowa Capitol Prayer Update 4-28-26

State and Local

1. Anti-foreign law bill (HF2695) – Praise God!!!  This bill passed the Senate 4-27-26 with a vote of 46-0, and now needs to pass the House.  Keep praying!

2. Black market abortion pill bill (HF2563) – this bill was renumbered (HF2788) and some amendments were filed to it 4-29-26.  I am not sure what these amendments include, so please pray as the Lord leads you.  The next stop for this bill would be the House floor.

3. Parents right to raise a child according to their biological sex bill (HF2557, HSB669) – Keep praying – this still needs to get to a vote on the Senate floor.

4. Age verification bill (SF443) – HF864 (another age verification bill) passed the Senate 4-29-26, with a vote of 46-0.  Praise God!!!  This needs to make it to the House floor before the session ends.

5. Pray for the Senate – Pray for the end of the session, that issues can be resolved quickly and bills get to the Senate floor before session ends.  Continue to pray for the breakthrough in the Senate – it is manifesting!!!

6. Bill reforming the emergency powers of the Governor (HF2694) – this bill passed with amendments on 4-29-26.  The amendment is not good.  It makes last year’s budget automatically continue if legislators do not pass a new one.  This sounds good on the surface, but it is actually intended to hamstring individual Legislator’s strongest leverage.  The State Legislature has never failed to pass a budget in anyone’s memory, and only 4 states have parallel laws.  This is an attempt to remove one of the best tools that conservative legislators have used at least 3 times in the past decade to force votes on important issues, like the pipeline bill last year.  However, this goes back to the House to be voted on, so pray the House brings the bill back to the way it was originally written in the House.

7. Gubernatorial race – the primary is less than 2 months away.  Pray for God’s selected candidate to have favor with the people and move forward in this process. 

8. Pipeline bill (HF2104) – An amendment was filed to this bill on 4-16-26.  Pray this bill and amendment make it to the Senate floor for a full vote!

National and International

1. President Trump – 3rd assassination attempt.  The White House Ballroom  need to be complete – this attempt never would have happened if this were completed.  The project is on hold following a judicial review.

2. Mifepristone bill – Introduced by Senator Josh Hawley (R-Missouri) that would withdraw the FDA’s approval of mifepristone as an abortion drug.  Senator Hawley is now pushing to have DOJ investigate the abortion drug maker (Danco Labs).

3. Department of Homeland Security – Continue to pray for Congress to fully fund the department and allow them to reopen soon.  Over 1000 TSA officers have quit amid the shutdown.

4. May Day Protests – Organizers are asking people to not work, not go to school and not to shop in an attempt for an economic disruption that will cripple “fascists” who claim they are destroying the rights of immigrants, people of color and LGBTQ.  Pray for repentance and a mighty move of God, as well as order and peace over  resistance and rebellion. 

5. Military

6. Iran, US, Israel – talks between US and Iran have collapsed – tensions rising across multiple fronts.  Pray for a quick resolution.  That the US may be independent with oil and Iran doesn’t keep everyone hostage in regards to their oil supply.  Because of the boycott, Iran is running out of places to store their oil.  Something needs to happen in the next few days.  Pray that the people of the US can be patient and see the bigger picture in this. 

Upcoming Events:

1. National Day of Prayer – Thursday, May 7, at the Iowa State Capitol rotunda.  11:30-1:00.

2. Rededicate 250 – Rededicate the United States as “one nation under God”.  Possible impromptu prayer meeting in the afternoon on the steps of our State Capitol.

4. Nehemiah Alliance 52 Day Rebuild Initiative – Join others from all states in prayer and fasting across our nation from 9-11-26 through 11-1-26.  3 days of fasting, 9-11 and 11-1, and another day assigned to the state of Iowa.  Nehemiah Alliance - 52 Day National Rebuild Initiative
