Iowa Capitol Prayer 4-7-26

1. Anti-foreign law bill (HF2695) – This bill still needs to get to the Senate floor for a vote. 

2. Black market abortion pill bill (HF2563) – this bill, that was stalled in the House, was referred to the Appropriations committee last week.    It did not come out of the Senate funnel, and it needs to pass in the House.  UPDATE – it has received a subcommittee in Appropriations!!!  No date set yet.

3. Parents right to raise a child according to their biological sex bill (HF2557, HSB669) – Keep praying – this still needs to get to a vote on the Senate floor.

4. Age verification bill (SF443) – pray this law makes it to the floor in the Senate.  It is hung up in a deal making crisis, for lack of a better description.

5. Pray for the Senate – There have been positive developments with the Senate since we met to pray on Tuesday!!!  Breakthrough is imminent!!!  Continue to press into the fullness of the manifestation of God’s plans and purposes to transpire through the Senate for the State of Iowa before this session ends!  We continue to look with expectation to what God is going to do!

6. Age-appropriate policies for books for minors in libraries (HF 2622) – This bill did not make it through the funnel..  It will have to be attached to a budget bill or legislators will need to get creative with it. 

7. Bill reforming the emergency powers of the Governor (HF2694) – This bill passed the house with a supermajority early in this years session.  Continue to pray it passes through the Senate EXACTLY as passed by the House.  This bill needs much prayer, it needs to be passed before the session ends this April. 

8. SF496 – Praise God the 8th Circuit Court removed the injunction against this bill that has been tied up in litigation since 2023!  It reinstates Iowa’s ability to enforce the law, which 1. prohibits sexually explicit books and materials in school libraries, 2.  Prohibits instruction of gender identity and sexual orientation in grades K-6, and 3.  Ensures that parents are informed and involved in decisions regarding their child’s well-being at school.

9. Gubernatorial race – the primary is less than 2 months away.  Pray for God’s selected candidate to have favor with the people and move forward in this process. 

National and International

1. SAVE Act

2. Mifepristone bill – Introduced by Senator Josh Hawley (R-Missouri) last week that would withdraw the FDA’s approval of mifepristone as an abortion drug.  If this would pass, it would bring all states into alignment and on the same page regarding these abortion drugs.  This needs covered in prayer!

3. Department of Homeland Security – Praise God for President Trump’s directive to pay DHS employees!  Continue to pray for Congress to fully fund the department and allow them to reopen soon.

4. New AI Legislation – Trump Administration – Pray for God’s wisdom for those developing policy, to protect children from the dangers of AI, as well as all Americans.  Our country needs God’s great wisdom, discernment and clarity on this.  Pray into children being protected, free speech being protected, enabling innovation, and especially educating Americans on all the pros and cons AI brings.  

5. Military – protection over our military and prayers for those families who have lost loved ones.  Praise God for those who have made it safely home and the aviators who were rescued!

6. President Trump and cabinet

7. Iran, US, Israel – a rapid end to the war with nothing compromised.  Praise for God’s protection over the people of Iran.  President Trump suspended bombing Iran for 2 weeks – many people were praying into this.  Pray for mighty encounters with Jesus on both sides of the pond.

8. USA position with NATO – Britain, Spain, Italy and France are all restricting military access to the United States.  As a part of NATO, when one is at war, all are at war.  This is not happening.  Pray exposure of the enemy’s plans in all this.
