Pray For God's Redemptive Purposes to Be Fulfilled and Seen in the Face of the Holocaust and Jewish Persecution
My daughter has a class where they are currently covering the Holocaust in her public school English class, reading Elie Wiesel's book, Night and analyzing Schindler's List film. She reported that the students were asked to sit for several seconds, trying to “hear God.” Then the class was asked what they heard. A few students said, “Nothing.” To which the discussion was directed toward the conclusion that “God doesn’t speak today” or “He sometimes doesn't speak in grave or traumatic situations like the Holocaust.” Certainly there is complexity in both historical and modern events that would lend itself to individuals wondering how God speaks, if at all. And while it is appropriate to highlight the grave emotional distress and trauma that victims of the Holocaust went through, their struggle to see where God was, along with their personal views of God and/or faith (such as in the book they're studying, we believe it is inappropriate for a public school teacher to be so directive (coercive) toward conclusions that are atheistic or agnostic. To be more pointed, it could be seen as a violation of religious beliefs and Constitutional rights¹. Under Supreme Court precedents like Everson v. Board of Education, the government must remain neutral not only between different religions but also between “religion and nonreligion.” (Dept. of Education) – in other words, a public school teacher shouldn't be directing students toward the belief in atheism or agnosticism.
But there is something deeper here than just the legalities of public education – it is the lie of the enemy that there is no redemptive plan in the heart of God for the horrors that the Jews have had to endure: that God is not the Redeemer that He says He is, or that God is not truly Good (Nahum 1:7).
This is what we want to pray about tonight: that the world would begin to see the grand, majestic redemptive plan of God for the Jewish people (and for all humanity) unfold.
For those of us who do believe in Jesus (as the Jewish Messiah and God), the horror and trauma of the Holocaust in no way affirms or “proves” the contention that God is somehow “silent” in historical events, or even in more recent events, such as October 7, 2023. Nor does sitting in a quiet room where God is not heard to physical, human ears “prove” His non-existence, or otherwise His ability or willingness to “speak”.
The atrocities and depravity of humanity only emphasizes the grave responsibility that we have with what we have been given – namely, the incredible (almost incomprehensible) power of free-will. C.S. Lewis had much to say about this:
“God created things which had free will. That means creatures which can go wrong or right. Some people think they can imagine a creature which was free but had no possibility of going wrong, but I can't. If a thing is free to be good it's also free to be bad. And free will is what has made evil possible. Why, then, did God give them free will? Because free will, though it makes evil possible, is also the only thing that makes possible any love or goodness or joy worth having. A world of automata -of creatures that worked like machines- would hardly be worth creating. The happiness which God designs for His higher creatures is the happiness of being freely, voluntarily united to Him and to each other in an ecstasy of love and delight compared with which the most rapturous love between a man and a woman on this earth is mere milk and water. And for that they've got to be free.
Of course God knew what would happen if they used their freedom the wrong way: apparently, He thought it worth the risk. (...) If God thinks this state of war in the universe a price worth paying for free will -that is, for making a real world in which creatures can do real good or harm and something of real importance can happen, instead of a toy world which only moves when He pulls the strings- then we may take it it is worth paying.” (Lewis)
This free-will allows people the choice to be united to incomprehensible evil (such as the Holocaust), but also reveals the demonstration of His existence and where He does often speak – through those who are truly following His heart and will, such as the more-than-28,000 rescuers of the Jews (whom Yad Vashem calls “The Righteous Among the Nations”), who worked tirelessly to save the Jewish race from extermination: approximately 1 million to 1.5 million were rescued from certain death. The Jewish scriptures illustrate that righteousness is demonstrated through those who stop others from being destroyed (Ps. 106:30,31). As you know, this included diplomats, institutions, governments, and ordinary citizens (such as Oskar Schindler or Dietrich Bonhoffer). These demonstrate the “Light” of God's existence, love, and care for the Jewish people in the mist of the “Night,” even through imperfect vehicles of His will. In other words, He was “speaking” through the actions of those who stopped the bloodshed and showed love for the Jews. Even if others do not “hear God speak,” those who know Him, who are “His Sheep,” listen to His voice, know Him, and they follow Him (John 10:27). They will do great “exploits” to demonstrate that God is still attentive to and actively involved in overcoming evil (Daniel 11:32). He is still Emmanuel – “God with us” (Matt. 1:23). Beyond this, for those who continue to object to the existence of God (or Him speaking) in the face of evil, suffering, or humanity's willful negligence and egregious decisions, we would point to many observable and obvious demonstrations of His love, divine power and Godhead, such as Creation itself (Romans 1:16). These “speak” (although maybe not audibly in a quiet English classroom) to His glory: “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork...Their “voice” goes out through all the earth, and their “words” to the end of the world.” (Ps. 19:1-4).
Most of us go through difficult times of doubt and perplexity regarding where God could possibly be, such as in the loss of a close family member to a terminal disease. But If we impute to God what the adversary (devil) does (to steal, kill, and destroy), it becomes impossible to see that He is (in reality) the One who comes to bring abundant Life (John 10:10). We want to pray tonight to see God, not as the author of circumstances that rob us of people or things that we value, but as the Supreme Redeemer of all that is evil. He promises, “And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.” (Rom. 8:28) and “neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Messiah Jesus our Lord.” (Rom. 8:38,39). It is the sacrifice of the Messiah for the forgiveness of our sins and personal redemption and healing/wholeness that most clearly and vividly proves that God still speak:
For when the time was right, the Anointed One came and died to demonstrate [“speak”] his love for sinners who were entirely helpless, weak, and powerless to save themselves. Now, would anyone dare to die for the sake of a wicked person? We can all understand if someone was willing to die for a truly noble person. But Christ proved God’s passionate love for us by dying in our place while we were still lost and ungodly! And there is still much more to say of his unfailing love for us! For through the blood of Jesus we have heard the powerful declaration, “You are now righteous in my sight.” And because of the sacrifice of Jesus, you will never experience the wrath of God. So if while we were still enemies, God fully reconciled us to himself through the death of his Son, then something greater than friendship is ours. Now that we are at peace [shalom] with God, and because we share in his resurrection life, how much more we will be rescued from sin’s dominion! And even more than that, we overflow with triumphant joy in our new relationship of living reconciled to God—all because of Jesus Christ! - (Romans 5:6-11, TPT)
Prayer: Lord, we bind an anti-God, atheistic spirit that seeks to undermine faith, especially the faith of children, but also among the Jewish people and those who have endured or witnessed severe atrocities. We remove the lie that you are the author of confusion, or that You are the One who is responsible or negligent toward the suffering and evil that happens in the world. You are not the devil. You are not the father of lies. You do not come to steal, kill and destroy. Instead, You are Life, and have come to bring resurrection life and life abundantly. You are the Redeemer of the Jewish plight, and of all humanity. You bring beauty for ashes, joy for mourning, and praise for heaviness (Is. 61:3). You undo the works of the devil. (1 John 3:8)
So we pray tonight for Your Redemptive Purposes to Be Fulfilled and Seen in the Face of the Holocaust and Jewish Persecution. Speak to them through visitations, signs, wonders, healings, miracles, through Your Creation. Move upon Your people, Your sheep who hear Your voice, to speak – through their words and their actions, the love, care, and plans and purposes that You have for the Jewish people – and especially as it relates to their Messiah, Jesus. Let them know, undeniably, that You speak today and are intimately acquainted with all that concerns each and every one of them.
Pray that the Political Right Will Have a Wake-up Call and Repentance Regarding Antisemitism Creeping in
Does the Right Have an Antisemitism Problem? By Belinda Brewster, IFA Contributing Writer, and Susan Nye Thorton | February 7, 2026
We prayed frequently about the scope of influence prominent podcasters, such as Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, and Nick Fuentes. Nick Fuentes (white supremicist) recently gushed about his admiration for Adolf Hitler without a peep of pushback from Mr. Carlson in a podcast.
“Later in that same week, Kevin Roberts, President of the influential conservative think tank, The Heritage Foundation, unreservedly stood by the comments made by his ‘close personal friend’ Tucker Carlson. After pressure to resign, he issued a weak apology rather than a resignation, calling his remarks a ‘mistake’, and has held onto his position.” This has resulted in many (like Michele Bachmann) exiting the Heritage Foundation's board or support for the Foundation due to its lack of support for Israel and negligence toward antisemitism.
(I would encourage you all to read the whole article, because I believe it is very-well written and highlights what Senator Cruz calls, a “poison”).
In a recent address to the annual summit of the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC), three-term Senator Ted Cruz startlingly claimed, “In the last six months, I’ve seen more antisemitism on the right than I had in my entire life. This is a poison,” he continued. “And I believe we are facing an existential crisis in our party and our country. It’s a handful of voices that are spreading this garbage.”
We Affirm these Promises of Your Word:
He found him in a desert land, and in the wasteland, a howling wilderness; He encircled him. He instructed him. He kept him as the apple of His eye. (Deuteronomy 32:10)
He who touches you, touches the apple of His eye. (Zechariah 2:8)
Whoever blesses Israel will be blessed, and whoever curses Israel will be cursed.” (Numbers 24:9 GNT
(Prayer written by Derek Prince)
Lord God, I want to start by saying, “Thank you!” Thank you for Israel, both the land and the people. Thank you that you have chosen the land for your people and that You will uphold Your Word against all odds.
Thank you for Your salvation which comes to us through the death, burial and resurrection of our Savior, Yeshua Messiah, who was born to a Jewish mother in Bethlehem, Israel.
We praise You for the way You are regathering Israel to the land You gave them by Covenant. To You alone be the glory for the restoration or Your people and the softening of their hearts taking place now.
Lord Jesus Christ, You who are head over all things to the Church which is Your Body, We stand before you, Lord, and acknowledge with shame and sorrow our unutterable guilt in the sufferings of the Jewish people. O God, there is no way that we can express the sense of guilt and sorrow that has come upon us.
Now we stand before You, not merely to acknowledge our own personal sins, but we stand before You on behalf of the sins of the Christian Church. We are not indicating any particular denomination or section of the Church. We are repenting on behalf of the whole Church.
We are ashamed before You of our indifferences, Lord. O God, we are ashamed of our hardness and our materialism. We have let so many obstacles come between us and the interests of Your Kingdom, and the purposes of Your heart.
Forgive us, Lord. Blot out our sins as a cloud, and our transgressions as a thick cloud. Blot them out because of Your mercy, Lord. Blot out the dark cloud that hangs over the Church in this land because of antisemitism – that dark cloud which withholds the real outpouring of Your blessing. Blot it out, Lord, we pray, in Jesus’ name.
With this prayer, we now submit ourselves to You completely for Your purposes and Your will to be done in and through us. Teach us, remind us, and quicken us to intercede for Israel.
As we pray, remind us of the words Paul spoke in Romans 11:12: “if their fall means riches for the world, and their failure means riches for the Gentiles, how much greater riches will their full inclusion bring! Please bring Israel to that point of restoration and fullness we pray. We ask again that You would pour out upon us, Lord, a spirit of grace and of supplication.
Release Your Spirit upon us in the mighty name of Yeshua, Amen.
My prayer:
Lord, we specifically pray for a “wake-up” call to the political Right in America. Don't let them be deceived, to bend or bow to the accusations or intimidation of their adversaries. Help them to grow a backbone and have “chutzpah” or “grit” to do the right thing, the hard thing, the noble thing, in standing for Your Word, Your Promises, Your directives regarding Israel, standing against antisemitism, and blessing the Jewish people. We decree a divorce and separation from antisemitic ideology that is infecting the Right. Lord, cut it out like a cancer, and distance those who are truly following Your Word and Will from those who have gone their own way and departed from the Truth.
Keep reminding God’s people of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen. 15Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 16Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. 17Their teaching will spread like cancer. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, 18who have departed from the truth. - 2 Timothy 2:14-18
So we decree this Word over Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, Nick Fuentes, Kevin Roberts, and anyone else who is espousing antisemitic rhetoric, ideology, or theology. We warn your people regarding them and pray Lord, that You would send a clarion call over Your Church to anchor themselves in Your Word and Truth.
