IA Capitol Prayer Update 5-13-26

We will be meeting in the Legislative Dining Room every Tuesday from noon-1:00 until the next session starts!  We are thankful things have slowed down a lot in the Capitol, and we keep praying!

Sunday, May 17, is the “Rededicate 250” event, where we will rededicate the United States as “one nation under God”.  We will have an impromptu prayer gathering on the Iowa State Capitol front steps from 2-3 pm on Sunday, May 17. 

Please come and invite others as we allow the Holy Spirit to lead us during this time.  This will NOT be a spectator event!!!  Come prepared to pray and worship as we rededicate our country and Iowa, as one nation under God!  We will give thanks and praise to God for 250 years of His providence for the US and pray God blesses and protects the US and Iowa for the next 250 years!

State and Local

1. Gubernatorial race – the primary is less than 2 months away.  Pray for God’s selected candidate to have favor with the people and move forward in this process. 

2. Lifewise - a nonprofit that provides Bible education through release time, to public school students during school hours, off school property.  It is starting to gain a foothold here in Iowa and is changing lives, beginning with students and extending to families.  Find out more about it here:  During School Hours - Home - LifeWise Academy

3. Churches and families

4. Rededicate 250 – Sunday, May 17.  2:00 pm at the Iowa State Capitol.  All day in Washington DC.  This will be a sacred and strategic moment as we:

-Recount the faithfulness of God over Iowa

-Reclaim the state for His purposes and righteousness

-Rededicate our land, leadership, and future generations to the Lord

We believe the Lord is calling His people in Iowa to stand in unity, humility, and bold faith in this hour for our state. Your presence matters. Your prayers matter. Together, we will lift up a sound that aligns Iowa with God’s heart and destiny.

Please invite others to join you - friends, family, and fellow intercessors - and come expectant for what the Lord will do.

5. Seeking the Lord – We will spend the next months until session starts again next year, seeking the Lord for His deeper answers and solutions to what we are fighting in the spiritual realm to combat what we are seeing in the natural realm in our government, both state and local. 

National and International

1. President Trump and cabinet – President Trump is in China this week

2. Planned Parenthood – was defunded – but only for 1 year.  It expires July 4 unless new legislation is passed through a reconciliation bill.

3. Military

4. Iran, US, Israel  

5. Nigeria and Sudan – persecuted Christians

Upcoming Events:

2. March for Life – Saturday, June 20.  1:00 pm rally at the Capitol.  1:45 March.
