Capitol Prayer - Iowa Feb. 2026

Capitol Prayer Points 2-17-26

The spiritual battles continue in our statehouse.  Please pray into the following prayer points.

  1.  The Life at Conception bills in the House are dead.  The abolitionists pushed too hard to include putting young women and anyone who's had an abortion in prison, as well as destroying IVF access in Iowa.  See link below from Steve Holt explaining why the bills died in the House pertaining to life at conception.  Some abolitionists are accusing Rep. Holt and Rep. Dunwell and anyone who supports the bill, as working for the devil.  Please keep these representatives in prayer. The House will now be focusing on HSB704, which takes aim at the black market abortion drugs.

  1. PLEASE KEEP IN PRAYER!!!  The Senate has a life at conception bill drafted by Senator Campbell that could be given a number and subcommittee.  Please pray that this bill goes forward!!!  It has to be done this week, as the first funnel is this week.  Anything that does not make it through the first funnel this week, will die and not be considered this legislative session.  All bills that will potentially go to the floor for debate and a vote, MUST make it through the first funnel this week.  PLEASE PRAY FOR THIS BILL TO GO THROUGH THE SENATE AND MAKE IT THROUGH THE FIRST FUNNEL THIS WEEK!!!!

  2. PRAISE!!!  There was a bipartisan education bill passed on limiting digital instruction in the schools to 60 minutes a day!!!  This is amazing that we have bipartisan support on this!  All "sides" are willing to work together to move this bill forward!

  3. Continue praying for the eminent domain bill.  It is highly contentious in the Senate, as well as legislators who did not support it in the past are leaning towards supporting it, including Democrats, in both chambers.  Fear and misinformation plays a part in this.  See comments by Representative Charlie Thomsen below outlining 20 legal and policy problems with the Senate bill.

  1. Abortion pills - there are medical groups trying to water down the Senate version of the bill to restrict these in Iowa.  Pray that the Senate Republicans do not cave in to all the demands of the medical groups.

6.  Pornography in libraries - bill moving through the House to remove the exemptions for                    this.

7. Churches mobilized to be bold for Biblical principles.  For church leaders to lead their flock boldly teaching God's truths.  At a subcommittee last week, there were 3 pastors speaking at it - 3 liberal pastors.  There were no Biblically based pastors boldly speaking out God's truth in love.  Pray for the body to be ignited for Jesus!!!  This state IS to be a beacon of hope for our nation!!!

8.  This is funnel week.  It is a whirlwind for the legislators trying to get everything through the first funnel.  Please keep them all in prayer.
